Gabriela Lopez

Associate Director of Family Engagement

As an immigrant from Guatemala raised in a Latinx neighborhood in Los Angeles county, Gabriela Lopez found a passion for empowering communities of color who are often overlooked. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology at UC Davis.

As a first-generation college student, she struggled to navigate higher education but found solace & purpose with a group of young & bright individuals in the student-run organization, Mujeres Ayudando la Raza de UC Davis. The compassion & support from her peers and academic counselors made it clear that her lifelong work is to pay it forward and elevate the voices of marginalized communities.

Gabriela has worked with families at Children’s Council to educate & build their confidence in their search for child care that fits their needs. She oversees staff training and continues to find ways to build staff skillset to empower & educate alongside our San Francisco families.

Gabriela spends her free time listening to educational podcasts and supporting her local community efforts. You can also catch her working on a DIY home project or hiking with her husband.
