Karol Ruiz

Karol Ruiz has a background in advocacy, business immigration and complex litigation in both federal and state court. She was worked as a paralegal in civil cases involving intellectual property, breach of contract, fraud and securities disputes and has assisted low-income clients and community groups through her work with the Tenants Together, United Nations, East Bay Community Law Center and Centro Legal de la Raza. 

She is passionate about giving back to the community and supporting youth. She currently serves as a Mentor at Destined for X, a nonprofit organization that seeks to empower underrepresented high school students by encouraging them to pursue careers in STEAM and develop professional and entrepreneurial skills. 

Of Ecuadorian-descent, Karol was born in San Francisco, grew up in Ecuador and has lived in the Bay Area since 2001 and is fluent in English and Spanish. Karol holds a BA in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley and is currently working towards her MA in Urban and Public Affairs at the University of San Francisco.
