Free Diaper Program Extended to CalWORKs and CalFresh Recipients

Keeping a child in clean diapers can cost between $80 and $100 or more per month. That’s $1,200+ per year until potty training. And most child care providers require each child to have a supply of clean diapers.

Did you know that Children’s Council gives out more than 48,000 free diapers each year? And now, we’re happy to announce an expansion of our free diaper program: Any family receiving CalWORKs or CalFresh benefits now qualifies for free diapers!

This free diaper program is a partnership between Children’s Council, San Francisco Human Services Agency and the SF Diaper Bank/Help a Mother Out.

Here’s how it works. Any family who has an active Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card – even if the services they receive are just for their children – can bring the card and their ID to any Diaper Bank location, including Children’s Council.

Every family receiving CalWORKs or CalFresh benefits is eligible to receive two boxes of diapers each month per child under the age of three. It’s really that simple.

If you’re coming to Children’s Council for an appointment or workshop, ask at the front desk. Or just drop by our offices at 445 Church Street, Monday – Friday between 9am and 3pm.
