Children’s Council’s Je Ton Carey on ABC7

Je Ton Carey, Director of Black Early Care & Education at Children’s Council of SF, spoke last night on ABC 7 News about the California Attorney General’s investigation into implicit bias among health care workers in perinatal settings.

“Many Black moms aren’t taken seriously when they communicate their pain or discomfort to doctors,” Je Ton said, and highlighted the wider impact: “Social emotional development and kindergarten readiness are key components that are impacted by Black moms and Black families not having access to resources.”
