Children’s Council of San Francisco Appoints Denise Marica as Chief Philanthropy Officer

Veteran fundraising leader will spearhead a comprehensive, mission‑aligned strategy to expand philanthropic support for San Francisco children and families  

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (June 15, 2026) – Children’s Council of San Francisco is proud to announce that Denise Marica has been appointed as Chief Philanthropy Officer effective July 1, 2026.  

In this newly created role, Marica will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive, multi‑channel fundraising strategy to expand philanthropic revenue from individual, corporate, foundation and government sources. She will oversee donor engagement, stewardship, fundraising operations, and outreach and communications. Partnering closely with the executive team, board of directors and senior leadership, she will ensure that Children’s Council’s fundraising programs are robust, data‑driven and aligned with the organization’s mission and strategic priorities.

Previously, Denise led the strategy and execution of fundraising initiatives that advanced Bay Area Discovery Museum’s mission to create playful learning opportunities for all Bay Area children. Marica’s career has been rooted in San Francisco, with prior fundraising leadership roles at Founder’s Pledge, SFMOMA and the San Francisco Symphony. A longtime San Francisco resident, Marica is a parent of two and an active volunteer in the city’s early education community.
