Celebrating Pride Month with Children’s Council Staff
In honor of Pride Month in June, we asked Children’s Council of San Francisco’s staff what Pride means to them, how they celebrate and who inspires them from the LGBTQ+ community.

“Pride to me actually brings a lot of joy because it represents acceptance; it brings the community together in a way that they can feel safe to show who they really are. Pride to me also brings a lot of happiness, making history, how many people it really took to get to this stage where they can be accepted by everyone around, everywhere in the county.”
MJ Anguiano, Payment Services Supervisor

“Someone from the LGBTQ+ community who inspires me is my Aunt Andrielle Pañares. She was incredibly unapologetic about who she was and how she loved and that translated beautifully into her life’s work. She spent her life serving and protecting those who are most vulnerable: victims of human trafficking and refugees and she just loved incredibly fiercely throughout.”
Abigail Pañares, Outreach & Communications Manager

“The way that I celebrate Pride is by being my true, unapologetic self every single day.”
Junior Nunez, CalWorks Specialist
