An important message from Children’s Council President/CEO Dr. Gina Fromer

Hello Children’s Council community,

It is with a heavy heart that I hereby resign my position as President & CEO of Children’s Council of San Francisco, effective October 6, 2023. It has been an incredible honor to lead Children’s Council for nearly five years and to support thousands of children, families and educators across San Francisco.

When I came on board in 2019, our annual budget was $85 million, now our budget is $240 million. What an amazing achievement, and a true reflection of the great work this great organization does day in and day out.

Serving our committed team of 135 staff, who fight every day to ensure that our city’s children, families and child care educators have what they need to be successful, has been a dream come true.

I am so proud of what we have accomplished together, especially during the COVID-19 crisis. We never stopped working on behalf of our communities and employees, as we continued to move the vision of the organization forward. I am confident that Children’s Council will continue to thrive and be an increasingly strong force in the child care ecosystem, bringing forth innovative ideas and pioneering programs for families and early educators across San Francisco and beyond.

It has been my great privilege to work with an exceptionally dedicated and skilled team of senior leaders and managers, who guide and mentor the most talented group of staff I have ever seen in all my years in the nonprofit field. I am exceedingly grateful for all the long hours and hard work that Children’s Council employees have put in to move our strategic vision forward.

These are not accomplishments a CEO makes alone. These are achievements that require a committed team of gifted, tenacious individuals who come together to work relentlessly for a common goal.

As many of you know, one of my passions is the development of innovative programs that meet the greater needs of San Francisco. This is the core of the work I love, as I continue to fight for a more diverse, inclusive and just society. I am fiercely committed to finding a way to be the change I would like to see in our city. My new opportunity, which will be announced soon, will enable me to pursue this work.

Children’s Council’s Executive Leadership Team is exceptionally strong. They each hold key elements of our organization’s mission and will lead in my absence. I leave Children’s Council in a strong position, both financially and structurally.

I wish you all the best.

With gratitude and warm regards,

Dr. Gina Fromer
