2026 Provider Appreciation Day
In honor of Provider Appreciation Day on May 8, we asked Children’s Council of San Francisco Staff about a provider that had a profound impact on them or their child. If you would also like to share about a provider that made an impact on you or your family, use the hashtag #childcaresf; we would love to hear your story.

“A provider who had a profound impact on my life was my mother who cared for me and eventually worked alongside my godmother at Chairman’s Children Center.”
Jessie Wong, Corporate Relations Manager

“The biggest impact a provider made in my life was when I was in elementary school, we had a provider who, as a mandated reporter, noticed issues with me and my twin sister and she reported it and because of that really brave action she got us out of an abusive and toxic environment. I couldn’t be more grateful.”
Cheryl Whitfield-Stokes, Family Services Specialist

“A provider that’s had a profound impact of me and my family is the YMCA of San Francisco. I went there as a kid and really was drawn and attached to the sense of community and belonging and its really shaped who I am as a person and as a professional.”
Jonathan Mar, Director of Compliance and Program Supports

“Claudia Diaz was my child’s favorite preschool teacher and she still is and my child is in the 5th grade! Thank you Claudia!”
Jessica Boehme-Flores, Family & Caregiver Engagement Senior Manager

“I want to show appreciation for my child’s program, Nihonmachi Little Friends, especially for the teachers in the classroom. My child has been going there and has been feeling very comfortable and is so appreciative of the teachers at the school and it’s especially important to my husband and I because we are from the [ECE] background and they have been making us feel very comfortable there. Thank you so much.”
Lorita Yip, Director of Child Care Benefits Supports
