Kim Garcia-Meza
Kim Garcia-Meza is the founder of Escuelita Las Mañanitas, a Spanish Immersion Preschool through Kinder in San Francisco focusing on outdoor education and play based learning. She holds a BA from Stanford University, a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from SFSU, a Masters in Education from USF, and a California Preschool Program Director Permit. Before founding Las Mañanitas, Kim taught in the SFUSD as a Spanish bilingual elementary school educator.
Throughout her 35+ year career in education, Kim’s advocacy has focused on parent and student educational rights, and teacher employment rights. She served on the SFUSD Flynn Elementary’s ELAC (English Learner Advisory Committee), the SFUSD district level BCC (Bilingual Community Council), the UESF (United Educators of San Francisco Teacher Union), and the SF OECE (Office of Early Care and Education) Advisory Council. She currently serves on the University of San Francisco’s School of Education Dean’s Circle.
In 2022 with the support of parents and education advocates, Kim established the Las Mañanitas Education Foundation, a non-profit focused on funding need-based scholarships for Escuelita Las Mañanitas, planting Little Free Libraries in San Francisco, and raising seed money to establish a community center.
