Honoring our Early Educators on National Provider Appreciation Day!

On National Provider Appreciation Day — today, May 9, 2025 — Children’s Council of San Francisco joins our colleagues from across the United States in celebrating the vital contributions of child care providers and early childhood educators.
As we often say at Children’s Council: without child care, our city doesn’t work. Every day, thousands of families in San Francisco depend on safe, reliable, high-quality care so they can do the work that keeps our city running—whether it’s keeping banks open, driving buses, cleaning streets, serving meals or teaching in classrooms. Child care is the foundation that makes all this possible.
At our annual gala, we present the Family Child Care Provider Champion Award, which recognizes the lifetime achievements of our community’s most dedicated early educators who open up their homes and commit their lives to San Francisco’s children and families. This year, we honored Kim Garcia-Meza. A graduate of our BizNest Family Child Care Business Incubator Program, Kim is the founder and director of Escuelita Las Mañanitas, a Spanish Immersion Preschool through Kinder in San Francisco focusing on outdoor education and play based learning.
And at the heart of our mission since 1973 has always been to help families access quality, affordable child care they can trust. Our exclusive child care finder tool makes it fast and easy for families to find licensed care environments that meet their unique needs and values.

Today and every day, we extend our heartfelt THANK YOU to all caregivers – from licensed providers to the Family, Friends and Neighbors providing care. Your tireless dedication not only nurtures our children but also empowers San Francisco families to grow, thrive, and contribute to a stronger community.
