At birth, the average baby’s brain is about a quarter of the size of the adult brain. Incredibly, the brain doubles in size in the first year. It keeps growing to about 80% of adult size by age three.

By age five, 90% of a child’s brain is fully developed. That’s why quality child care and preschool are so critical.

The research is clear: early education gives very young brains the attention and stimulation they need to blossom.

But child care is expensive and difficult to secure, particularly here in San Francisco.

Right now, thousands of families in our city are waiting for months — even years — to get their children into quality, affordable early education. That’s where Children’s Council comes in.

Every day we help families understand their options and pay for child care that meets their needs. But we need your help!

Your gift to Children’s Council will help our city’s children’s brains blossom — donate now!
