Naeemah Charles

Senior Director of Public Policy Communications

Naeemah Charles joined Children’s Council of San Francisco in 2020. Naeemah is a political veteran with a plethora of experience in public policy, public speaking, grassroots organizing, and issue-based campaigns.

She most recently served as the public affairs officer for Planned Parenthood Northern California, an organization that provides and protects the right to reproductive and sexual health care. In that role, Naeemah directed public affairs operations in San Francisco, Marin, and Sonoma counties. Naeemah built relationships with key stakeholders, and like-minded organizations to further the policy and budgetary needs of the organization. Naeemah oversaw the passage of local ordinances, mobilized efforts around state and federal policy and analyzed various bills and ordinances related to reproductive health care.

Prior to Planned Parenthood, she worked as a legislative aide for Assemblymember Richard Bloom. In this role, she staffed the member on the Higher Education Committee, tracked and analyzed legislation in various policy areas, and staffed the member on various bills. In addition, Naeemah spent several years working in Democratic politics serving as an operations manager for the San Francisco Democratic Party and party delegate at the State and Federal levels.

Naeemah is a Hope Institute, YP4, and College Democrats of America alum. She spent several years building democratic infrastructure for college students across the United States. She currently resides in San Francisco where she enjoys life by the beach in the Outer Sunset. In her spare time, she enjoys exploring various artistic forms of expression; currently, she is learning the guitar.
