Je Ton Carey

Je Ton Carey, Director of Black Early Care & Education Achievement

Je Ton Carey brings over twenty years of on-the-ground early care and education, family engagement, and public policy administration experience to Children’s Council. Prior to her appointment to the position of Director of Black Early Care & Education Achievement, she served as our Associate Director of Provider Services.

Je Ton started her career as a family child care provider and has a passion for the field. Guided by the Sudanese proverb, “A child is a child of everyone”, she believes in investing in early education to positively impact children, educators and the community.

Prior to her tenure at Children’s Council, Je Ton worked as a liaison, engaging stakeholders and policy makers in the coordination of care for the 0-5 population. She earned an M.A. in Early Childhood Education and has a foundational understanding of Early Care & Education competencies through the lens of equity, diversity and social justice.
