Erica Thorson

Erica Thorson, Director of Child Care Family Service Department

Erica Thorson earned her BS in Human Development with an emphasis in Child Development from UC Davis. Beginning her career as an early educator, she learned to embody the compassion and fortitude that she admired in other caregivers while working at Girls Inc.  She then decided to shift her career to focus on supporting vulnerable families and children and has spent over 19 years managing subsidized child care programs for her community.

For over 10 years, Erica has worked for Children’s Council of San Francisco and is currently the Director of Child Care Family Service Department, collaborating with San Francisco’s Office of Early Care and Education (OECE) and the California Department of Education (CDE) to ensure San Francisco’s most needy families have access to quality early care and education.  Erica also develops the training plan for program staff across the organization.  She fully invests in every person she meets and takes a kind and empathetic approach to her work, nurturing and developing the organization’s clients and staff alike.
