Children’s Council Launches Newly Redesigned Online Child Care Finder

A single mother and entrepreneur is in her home office answering emails, taking calls, and watching her toddler son.Navigating the maze of child care options can be complicated. The first place many parents go for information is the web, yet they are often confused by what they find. Children’s Council’s newly redesigned Online Child Care Finder makes it easy for parents to sort out their choices and find care that meets their needs.

Claudia Quinonez, Children’s Council Resource & Referral Manager says, “Each year, thousands of parents turn to us for information about child care and early education in San Francisco. Many have spent hours searching online for information, and yet they are confused by the results, and concerned about the quality of information.”

Children’s Council’s Executive Director, Sandee Blechman, notes “We put 40 years of experience at the heart of child care in our community into the Online Child Care Finder.” The tool, Blechman adds, “lets parents search the most comprehensive database of San Francisco providers licensed by the state of California via a user-friendly interface that filters not only by age of the child, neighborhood and schedule, but also language, approach to care and more.”

“The Online Child Care Finder is a natural extension of the full range of services we provide to parents and child care providers in San Francisco,” says Jennifer Brooks, Chief Program Officer at Children’s Council. “Our child care experts work one-on-one with providers citywide to keep their listings current and offer personalized assistance to families who need more help finding and paying for child care.”
