Health & Nutrition Support for Child Care Providers

Have you heard about Children’s Council’s newest opportunity for child care providers? The Healthy Apple Program is FREE for any child care provider in San Francisco who wants to help children build lifelong healthy habits. Getting started is easy. Our team will assess your current nutrition and/or physical activity practices to see where you’re doing well and where you have room to improve. Then we’ll work with you to create goals and a plan for reaching them.

The Healthy Apple team supports participants in a number of ways. Our online Action Plan helps you implement best practices and track your progress. We also host regular workshops on topics like nutrition, physical activity, and developing written policies. Finally, we are always updating our list of resources on nutrition and physical activity, which you can access at any time.

We know that as a child care provider you have a number of priorities to balance. That’s why Healthy Apple is a voluntary program, designed so you proceed at your own pace and based on what you find most interesting.

• Getting help setting goals and suggestions for improvement
• Access to FREE professional development workshops
• Receiving an award and public recognition for meeting best practices in nutrition and/or physical activity

Healthy habits are learned early and we can support your efforts to ensure kids are eating well and being active! Maybe you need tips for getting picky eaters to eat more whole grains, fruits and vegetables. Maybe you could use ideas for fun ways of helping children get more exercise.
