Children’s Council Urges You to Support Prop C

On June 5, San Francisco voters will have the opportunity to make a direct impact on the lives of thousands of families in our community, by approving major new funding for early care and education in the city.

What is Prop C?
Prop C, entitled the “Universal Childcare for San Francisco Families Initiative,” would increase the commercial rents tax, generating over $100 million more per year to fund child care subsidies for children up to age 4,  increase wages for early educators, and expand the city’s quality improvement system for early educators.

Why is child care and early education important?
At Children’s Council, we believe that San Francisco kids can’t wait for nurturing child care and early education. Research shows 90% of a child’s brain develops before age 5. But child care and early education in our city is expensive; it’s often a family’s biggest expense, even more than housing.

San Francisco families need help, so that they can work and provide economically for their families, and so that their children are ready for school and for life. This is why Children’s Council urges you to support Prop C.

How can I get involved?

You can volunteer, donate and mostly importantly, vote YES on Prop C for Universal Childcare on the June ballot. Learn more on the “Yes on Prop C” webpage.
