Family Child Care Program

The Family Child Care Program includes licensed family child care providers in all communities of San Francisco. The program helps promote children's healthy development. Providers care for children aged birth to 13 years old (or older children with special needs).

Our program specialists make regular visits to providers homes. Providers explore ways to improve their child care environments. We offer yearly professional assessments to measure the progress of individual children.

We offer providers materials and training, based on environmental and child assessments. They also attend free workshops to enhance their professional skills.

The California Department of Education (CDE) supports the Family Child Care Program. Providers must care for at least one child whose family receives child care payments through a state-funded subsidy program. Participants must also be enrolled in the Child Care Food Program.
